CauseLine Labs, Inc. named semifinalist at 2020 MN Cup competition
MINNEAPOLIS (May 27, 2020)–CauseLine Labs, Inc. was named a semifinalist at MN Cup, an annual competition of emerging Minnesota entrepreneurs. With over 1,000 entrants, the company is among just 90 start-ups selected to advance to the semifinal round.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the 2020 MN Cup competition,” said Ben Bakken, CEO of CauseLine Labs. “After returning to Minnesota from stints away from home in Chicago and Los Angeles, we are so excited to be building this company at home. The Twin Cities metro area is the best place to do an impact-oriented tech startup, and MN Cup and all its great people is a major reason why.”
MN Cup was established in 2005. It is a program of the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship at the Carlson School of Management. Entrepreneurs from across the state participate in MN Cup for a chance to win cash prizes. The program also connects these new businesses with tools, resources and support to launch and accelerate the development of their new ventures.
CauseLine Labs, Inc., creators of the ScoreSide platform, is competing in the Impact Ventures division, for start-ups pursuing goals that would benefit a large segment of society.
This is the first year CauseLine Labs has participated in MN Cup. The company was established in June 2018 by tech and start-up veterans Ben Bakken, Clark Torgerson, and JD Rubin. CauseLine Labs, Inc. offers ScoreSide, a mobile-based platform for engaging and sustained charitable giving through sports passion and fandom.
The company is seeking to expand its non-profit reach, corporate partnerships, and solidify its capital position to take advantage of the increasing potential for sports to make direct social impact in 2020. Over the last 6 months of public trials, ScoreSide has proven to increase user engagement by up to 10x and has been shown to be 14x more effective than previous fundraising methods. With global sports starting to solidify plans for active return to competition, ScoreSide is well positioned for extended and immediate growth.
In late-July, the company will submit a formal business plan, an investor slide presentation and a one-minute video to MN Cup. The materials will be formally reviewed by judges. The top three entrants in each division advance to a final round of competition.
